Media Art Research

"Media Art Research" offers insight into current positions of digital art and culture. Artistic and creative approaches, research topics and theoretical discourses are documented here and they are positioned in a comprehensive context. Three formats of presenting information are in the centre:

Topics

--Media artists and scientists in the field of media communication work on similar questions, e.g. how one can create intuitive interaction processes, how digital communication processes function and how people perceive digital information. Exploratory media art can be research at the same time and reciprocally, scientists adapt artistic approaches for their work and hence align their research anew. Media artists and scientists develop new forms of artistic expression, new cultural techniques and new forms of communication and information. Media art projects are presented here in the context of transdisciplinary topics such as Human-Computer-Interaction, › Explore Information / Create Knowledge and › Cultural Heritage › more

Publications

-- In cooperation with publishing companies and other institutions, netzspannung.org documents print publications on relevant topics of digital art and culture. The texts are, where possible, supplemented by video and audio documents. This online presentation considerably expands the number of users. As the › Digital Transformations publication shows even the demand for the printed edition is increasing. Print publication on netzspannung.org are hence a win win format for all parties involved - the publishing company, netzspannung.org and the users. › more

Exhibitions

--Exhibitions present artistic works with focus on a certain topic - › Games, for instance, discusses the reception of the computer game culture in media art. In many cases a supporting programme with lectures or films adds to the show. Exhibitions are based on research results or they are themselves an artistic approach to an art scientific or artistic topic. This section represents the curators' position and shows the works mostly in a multimedia presentation.› more
