digital sparks 2003

We are delighted with the tremendous response to the digital sparks 2003 competition. Students from a wide range of different media courses submitted a total of 135 projects. This increase of almost 100% not only underlines the keen interest of students at media colleges and university faculties, it also reflects the commitment of teachers and lecturers too. We would like to thank everyone involved.
For the first time ever, students from the fields of architecture, art education and theatre were able to submit projects in the new category "Media production and communication". Each project was assessed by two of the total of » 59 experts who nominated 46 entries for assessment by the final › panel of judges.
The winners received their prizes at an award ceremony at » Ars Electronica on September 10th 2003. They each received a › production scholarship worth EUR 2,500 and had the opportunity to present their work to an audience of specialists at the official ceremony.
