Abstract

Conventional posters show slogans and images, which do not change. The "Interactive Poster", on the other hand, has many features, which the observer can manipulate and select. For example, themes, motifs and slogans belonging to electronic culture are staged in order to communicate their attributes and potential.

The "Interactive Poster" is a multi media interpretation of the conventional poster. Without abandoning the usual striking design, interactive interfaces and moving images extend the potential for communication. The content of the poster therefore communicates in such a way as to accommodate the precise needs of the observer. Elements from television, film, and video are seamlessly integrated. The resonance of the poster is evaluated and communication can therefore be optimised. Quantitative and qualitative appraisal of contacts, allow analysis of the sites and the messages.

In conjunction with PointScreen technology, a contact-free, public-space information terminal emerges. Through hand movements alone, the audience integrates itself with the text objects and their forms. Information becomes a play, with the knowledge of the observer.

The "Interactive Poster" can also be employed with conventional display systems or interfaces, for example with touch screen technology, as already used in public information terminals.
