Abstract

The "Argunaut Project" studies possibilities for supporting the presentation of electronically communicated discussions. More than in conventional discussions, the success of e-discussions depends on the skill of the presentation, because here, essentials such as closeness, gesture or mimic, are often not present.

The aim of the project is firstly to develop prototype software, which complements the existing electronic discussion platform and secondly to develop the possibilities of early recognition of critical situations in the discussion process. For this purpose, artificial intelligence mechanisms mark examples out of existing discussion notes and generate general indicators for such situations, which in the course of further discussions can be used for automatic recognition. Parallel to this, new interactive visualisations of the discussion structures allow the presenter to look at new perspectives within the discussions, and so be better able to perceive their connectivity. The artificial intelligence mechanisms also analyse the success of the previous interventions of the presenter, so that the computer can also make new suggestions for interventions.
