As telecommunication becomes a more and more integral part of our daily lives and an ever-denser network of surveillance technology develops around us, I am interested in looking at different ways to deal with these issues. The main approaches are:- a more ambient integration of telecommunication in our environment - the use of sensors to react to the environment- the use of surveillance technology to establish open systems in public This aims at reestablishing a physical aspect in our relation to telecommunication, the idea of physical networks as opposed to purely screen-based ones.The following paper outlines the area of interest and describes 4 concepts, prototypes and an installation, which deal with these issues with shifting focus points.
