Abstract
"Iconoclash" proposes to "suspend the iconoclastic gesture". This paper will explore some visual and semantic aspects of such a suspension, in relation to political representation, monumental sculpture, and notions of time. It will argue that suspension can visualize an "epochè" that shows a way out of cyclic repetition and the alternative iconoclasm/idolatry.
