Abstract
Ever larger displays are being installed in public spaces. They reduce the public to the role of passive observer, in that they offer no possibility for communication. The project "MOMEUS" changes this.
With this in mind, Bremen companies and research institutes are working on developing a transferable, interactive communication scenario for displays in public spaces – urban screens. Furthermore, a connection between mobile and fixed multi-user environments will be created, both conceptually and technically, as is already known in computer games. This allows the incorporation of mixed community processes. In this way a participatory media system is established, which allows the public, using mobile phones or the Internet, to co-determine and actively develop that which can be seen on the public screen.
