Statement
The "Be Now Here"-project was developed and funded by Interval Research Corporation both for research, especially for art-aiding research, and for a show at the Center for the Arts in San Francisco.
One of the innovative aspects of the project was to find a novel method for audio-visual presence. An equally important and bridge-building consequence was getting representatives from 3 different communities to interact in the creation of an immersive virtual environment: artists, researchers and UNESCO-officials. In this sense, the specific cooperation with the local partners of the "Be Now Here"-project raised the issue of representation that became part of the particular research interest. (Michael Naimark)
