Abstract
1997 Ph.D. on theoretical image processing from Imperial College, London; he then joined the Institut Eurecom at Sophia-Antipolis (France) where he worked on automatic video indexing techniques based on human face localisation and recognition; since 1999 Assistant Professor, leading the Viper project in the Computer Vision and Multimedia Lab at the University of Geneva, working on content-based multimedia retrieval, management and content description; his group has released the GIFT (GNU Image Finding Tool), the first open-source Content-based Image Retrieval (CBIR) system including MRML (Multimedia Retrieval Markup Language); lives and works in Geneva.
