Inhaltliche Beschreibung

The work 00/07/58/24 is based on a group of logos that I previously created. Each logo describes a sculptural situation that designed to be an information sign. For example: a video camera tide to a tree and functions like a surveillance camera or a record player that turned into a compass. The animation is built from nine parts. Each part presents a situation (in a space, outdoor, or a public space) and the situation is represented by a logo which is the starting point or the ending point of each part. The different parts of the whole film refer to brand intros - a small motion graphic that presents a brand. The movie creates relationship between the viewer and the logo by changing the point of view and referring to computer games or simulators-once the viewer is looking through the logo (camera lens, aircraft) and once the logo points its information at the viewer.
The different parts of the movie are connected by the different functions of the circle at the center and by the different use of the same object or image. For example: a cashier with a turntable turns into an aircraft point of view and later shows up again when playing a record with the of a sound-man walking on a tight rope.

His work "00/07/58/24" is a motion graphic animation made with Flash software. It is loosely based on a group of logos that he previously created. The logos utilize the graphic language of branding and corporate identity design to outline a different system of communication which can be best described as the documentation of fragmented social and private narratives.
One major aspect of the work is the continuous change in the point of view, or, more specifically, the visual relationship that is established between the logo and the viewer. Traditionally, the logo is a loaded, manipulative mass viewer-oriented item which tends to seductively engage the viewer. Dani Gal's interest lies in the deconstruction of this traditional agenda so that the point of view slows, or ruptures and it is possible to make other, more complex associations.

Dani Gal ist ein Student meiner Klasse an der Akademie im 8. Semester. Die Arbeit von Dani Gal entstand selbstständig, als freie Arbeit, nachdem er vor einiger Zeit Kurse in Photoshop / Freehand absolviert hat.

Zuordnung Forschungsbereich

In meiner Arbeit bestimmt "Grafik" im inhaltlichen und technischen Sinne all mein Handeln/Denken/Lehren. Dies schließt alle Techniken ein - von der Radierung bis zum Computer, von der Collage über Film - bis zur Animation. Seit 1975 bin ich an der Städelschule als Lehrer tätig.
