Kommentar des Betreuers

„Wandler“ is a project dealing with energy and matter. It creates a loop transforming one energy into another, thus in-forming materiality. Using wax, a traditional carrier of energy - a material with very strong connotations – embeds a state of the art interface in the oldest roots of civilization.

This work is based on Helge’s long research on materiality and energy flows. It combines lightness with a serious conceptual approach. The installation is visually and acoustically stunning.

Seminar / Kurzbeschreibung

Within the seminar “Library of Materials” we sampled materials and researched their properties: new materials, forgotten materials, recycled materials, intelligent materials, adaptive materials, materials with interactive qualities…

The seminar focused on technical issues and aspects of tactility as well as emotional qualities and connotations. This formed a basis for investigating the potential of these materials for adaptation, modification, tinkering, re-coding and inverse use.
Goal of the seminar was to develop an analog and digital library of materials.

Zuordnung Forschungsbereich

The field of „Hybrid Space“ focuses on the combinations of analog and digital space. The in-formation of materials and the materialization of information are central research themes within this field.
