Abstract

As a member of the Apache Software Foundation since 1999 he is working on several XML and JAVA related projects, e.g. JServ, POI and XINDICE. In 1999 he founded the Apache Cocoon project, a java servlet-based publishing framework based on XML technologies. Since 1995 he also did consulting and collaborative work for several enterprises all over Europe as a freelancer. His Degree of ‘doctor in Electronic Engineering’ from the University of Pavia, Italy, discussing the thesis “Reducing The Effects Of Growth Saturation With The Adoption Of A Publishing Framework Based On XML Technologies” he did in 2001. In 2002 he became Part of the international expert group for the creation of the Java Repository API. At this time he also is sponsoring member of several subprojects from xml.apache.org and jakarta.apache.org like Batik, FOP and others.
