Abstract

The Tulse Luper Suitcase is an ambitious audiovisual project by director Peter Greenaway (gb/nl). Films, DVDs, television, the Web, books, interactive DVDs and an exhibition are combined to stage the story of the picaresque adventures of Tulse Luper. Between 1928 and 1989, Luper is caught up in a life of prisons from Wales to Manchuria in which he invents projects in different art forms. Having come to fame, a conference and exhibition in New York is dedicated to Luper and his 92 suitcases.

Peter Greenaway speaks on the background and full scope of The Tulse Luper Suitcases project. The Kasander Film Company highlight the first development of the Tulse Luper Web and present its official international start. Students of the University of Leipzig - the first German "Luper Authorities" - present their research on Tulse Luper in The Tulse Luper Office.
