Abstract
Der Vortrag behandelt den "Sinn" des Bilderverbots im antiken Judentum. Dabei geht es zum einen um den politischen Widerstand gegen alle Formen staatlicher Repräsentation - nicht nur von weltlicher, sondern auch religiöser Macht - und zum anderen um die Verwerfung des "Kosmotheismus", der die Welt nicht nur als Schöpfung, sondern als Erscheinungsform des Göttlichen anbetet.
